William H. King

November 24, 1933 - October 5, 2012

William H. King, 78, of West Freedom, Parker, Pa., passed away at his residence early Friday morning after an extended illness. Born in Butler, Pa., on November 24, 1933 he was the son of Harry and Helen Bartoe King. After attending the former Parker High School he started his career with the former Knox Glass Company, Parker Plant in August 1952. He worked in Knox and Marienville before retiring in 1993 in Elmira, New York. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving his country from 1956-1958 and was a member of the American Legion post 598. He married Shirley Thompson King on April 5, 1956 whom survives. He and Shirley enjoyed traveling through the United States. In addition to his wife He is also survived by one daughter: Mrs. Becky Carothers of Seneca, Pa. One Son: William (Billy) Dean King of New Bethlehem, Pa. Two Step-Grandsons: Luke (Katie) Carothers and Jake Carothers all of Oil City, Pa. One Step-Great Grandson: Maximus Carothers also of Oil City, Pa. Two sisters: Marcia Fulmer of West Freedom; and Donna Kinney of Parker. Two sister in-laws: Mrs. Donald (Barbara) King of St. Petersburg, Pa. and Mrs. Thomas (Dee) King of Parker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Thomas F. King Jr., and Donald King. A son in-law: Richard Carothers and a step grand daughter: Emily Carothers. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Monday the 8th at the West Freedom United Methodist Church (Pa. Rte. 368 at Doc Walker Road, Parker, Pa.). The funeral service will be on Tuesday the 9th at 11 AM at the Church with Rev. Ken Hughes officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the America Legion and VFW Parker Post.
