Poppy Rose Myers

To know her, was to love her! Poppy Rose Kriebel Myers, of Clarion, PA, formerly of Parker, PA passed away on Saturday, April 13 after a brief illness at Penn Highlands, DuBois Hospital. Born December 2, 1932 in Dutch Hill, Clarion County, she was the daughter of the late Lindsay Kriebel and Orpha May Gallagher Kriebel. Poppy was a school bus driver for the A.C. Valley school district for over 20 years. She has had many bus stories told by graduates that could defend her driving abilities! She was married to Donald “Jody” Myers on May 10, 1956 and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before Don passed away in 2006. Together they raised 3 children: Deborah Smith from Grand Junction Colorado who preceded her in death in 2023, Brad Myers of Parker, PA and Marcy (Dave) Schlueter of Clarion, PA. In addition, Poppy had 2 grandchildren, Dylan Smith of Grand Junction, CO who preceded her in death and Dr. Derika Schlueter of Gainesville, FL. She also was preceded in death by her brothers, Don, “Hod” and Jack, as well as sisters, ValJean Hepner, Betty Hawthorne, and Pauline Slaughenhoupt. Poppy is survived by her brother Claude Kriebel of Parker as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would very much like to thank the wonderful care provided by Donnie Null and Josie Bates. Also, thank you to all the family and friends that visited Poppy in her apartment in Clarion to help make her days more enjoyable! Poppy’s faith was paramount in her life. She was very active in her church both at the Church of God in Parker and the merged congregation of Park Hill in West Freedom. She was both the church treasurer and the women’s missionary treasurer for many years. Most recently, she attended the Trinity Point Church of God in Clarion, PA. Poppy was well loved for many reasons, but one of the most coveted reasons was her famous bun recipe. In addition, she was loved for her quick wit and loving personality. She always had a smile on her face and often provided numerous entertaining quips. A memorial service will be held at the Park Hill Church of God on Limeplant Rd., West Freedom on Wednesday, June 26 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Amy Callendar and Rev. Bruce Wilson officiating.
