LEWIS RAY PEOPLES, 66, of Slippery Rock, Pa. passed away Sunday evening at Butler Memorial Hospital following an illness. Born on Nov. 3, 1945 in Butler, he was son of late James A. and Martha Grace Logue Peoples. Lewis was Catholic by faith.He served with the U.S. Army for nearly five years during the Viet Nam era with three tours in Viet Nam. Among the ten awards he earned were the Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, and the Vietnam Service with Silver Star. He was honorably discharged with the rank of SP/4 in 1974. Survived by sister: Joan (Joel) Hazlett of Hilliards; three brothers: James and Alan Peoples of Butler and Jerry Peoples of Slippery Rock; several nieces and nephews. Visitation 1:00 to 3:00 PM Friday at Buzard Funeral Home in Eau Claire with funeral to follow at 3:00 PM in funeral home. Burial private.
