August 10, 1917 - May 25, 2014

KATHRYN IONE JORDAN, 96, of West Freedom, Parker, Pa. passed away Sunday afternoon (05-25-14)at Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Sligo following a period of declining health. Born in Meadow Grove, Nebraska on Aug. 10, 1917, she was daughter of late Norris and Edna Bish Bashline. Ione was married to Wm. Dale Jordan on Nov. 14, 1938, and he passed away Dec. 6, 1992. She was a 1935 graduate of the former Sligo High School. She began a musical career in her teen-age years when the family moved from Nebraska to Mt. Orab, Ohio, where she played for Sunday night worship services on WHKB radio. Later she instructed over ninety students in playing the piano, including her three daughters. Ione played for over one hundred twenty-five weddings, as well as directing music for over thirty years at the former Dutch Hill Church of God, and later playing the piano at Park Hill Church of God. She had played the piano at church services since a student in the eighth grade. She was a member for decades at the former Dutch Hill Church of God where, in addition to music director, she was a Sunday School teacher and Bible School teacher for over thirty years. She and her husband were school bus contractors for Perry Twp. Schools, later Parker Area, and then ACV School Dist. She was affectionately known as "George" by her riders. Mrs. Jordan was the first president and longtime membership chairman of the Perry Twp. Ambulance service, later known as ACV Ambulance. Surviving are three daughters: Kay (Tom) Caldwell of Dutch Hill, Charlotte (Larry) Callander of West Freedom, and Sally Reed of Shippenville; six grandchildren: Deborah Caldwell Bobbert, Dale Caldwell, Lynne Caldwell Sleppy, Scott Caldwell Sleppy, Mark Callander, and Mary Callander Rothen; nineteen great-grandchildren: Angela Caldwell McMasters, Jason Bobbert, Candi Bobbert Myers, Ben Bobbert, David Caldwell, Rachel Ione Caldwell, Kasey Sleppy, Jordan Sleppy, Alex Hinen, Alex and Jill Caldwell, Mark, Lucas Samantha, Kylene, and Michaela Callander, Erika Rothen Wilson, Justin and Kiersten Rothen; two great-great grandchildren; number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Callander, a son-in-law, Richard "Shorty" Reed, sister: Fay Starkey, and brothers: Dean, Paul, and Carl Bashline. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday and from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Thursday at Park Hill Church of God, Lime Plant Rd., West Freedom (near Parker). Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM at the church with interment to follow at West Freedom Cemetery. The family suggests memorials, if desired, to Clarion-Forest VNA, Clarion, Pa. 16214 or Park Hill Church of God, Parker, Pa. 16049.
