EDWARD ISAAC "Ed" SNYDER, 91, of Dutch Hill, Parker, Pa. passed away early Thursday morning (12-12-13) at his residence of natural causes. Born on the family homestead, where he resided, on February 28, 1922, he was the son of the late William and Hazel Harriger Snyder. Ed was a longtime member of the Concord Presbyterian Church in Perry Township. He was a lifelong dairy farmer in Perry Township, and served on the Clarion County and District Soil Conservation Board for many years. Mr. Snyder could see the need for fire protection in Perry Township, and he and a number of residents organized the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Dept. in the early 1950's. He held the offices of president and treasurer many times over the years. Ed also was a member and treasurer of the Clarion County Firemen's Assn. for over twenty two years. Ed hauled milk to area processing plants as well as drove truck for McCauley's of New Bethlehem. In later years he also drove both school and tour buses. He and his wife enjoyed participating in the art of square-dancing. Ed is survived by his wife, the former Rose Helsel, whom he married on February 7, 1949, and one daughter, Sharon Snyder Master of Saxonburg; one sister, Sue Snyder Foust of Brookville, formerly of Perry Twp.; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Snyder. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday at H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Inc., 201 So. Wayne Ave., Parker. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home with Rev. Randy Evans, Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Interment will follow at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Dutch Hill.
