Donald Regis Eiler, 83, of Emlenton, Pa., passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday afternoon at ACMH Hospital Kittanning. Born in Bruin, PA., on July 29, 1935 he was the son of the late Joseph "Clem" and Hilda Styer Eiler. He was a self employed Tri Axle driver for most of his life. He eventually retired from Grove City Paving as their mechanic in 1998. Don was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a master mechanic who loved to spend time in his garage where he restored numerous tractors and trucks over his lifetime. Most of all Don was proud and loved his children and all of his grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters: Bonnie (Chuck) Cooper of Boyers; and Darla (Tom) Aughton of Emlenton. Four sons: Barry Eiler of Eau Claire; Eric (Mindy) Eiler of Parker; Donald (Charlene) Eiler of Barkeyville; and Jay (Tracie) Eiler of Hilliards. Three sisters: Dorothy "Toots" Miller of Hooker; Sally Michael of Butler; and Joan Phillips of Parker. Three brothers: Clifford (Imagene) Eiler of Erie; Bill Eiler of Parker; and Robert E. (Gerene) Eiler of Niagra Falls, NY. A companion Gladys Cordwell of Petrolia. 18 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Janice Bowser Eiler who passed in 2015. His brothers: Gerard, Raymond, Parker and John "Jack" Eiler. Sister Hilda Eiler and his daughter in-law Cheryl Eiler.
Friends will be received at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home (201 S. Washington St.) Eau Claire, PA., on Friday August 31st from 2-4 & 6-8PM. Also again on Saturday, Sept. 1st., from 10am-11am. The funeral Service will follow visitation at 11am. Interment will take place at the Allegheny Cemetery near Parker.
