Betty Louise Murray Jordan, 81, passed away peacefully on Palm Sunday morning, April 9, 2017 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease at the Clarview Nursing Home in Sligo where she resided since July 2003.

Born on February 27, 1936 in Licking Twp., Clarion County, she was the daughter of the late Albert Dean and Kathleen Edna Exley Murray.

Along with her six siblings, Betty grew up on a dairy farm along Pine Hollow Road near Callensburg, PA., in a house built by her father and his father, Harry Arthur Murray. The house was a mirror image of the house Albert grew up in, with a master bedroom, a small dormer room for her brother, and a larger bedroom for the five girls overlooking the woods above the Clarion river. With five girls in one bedroom, it was no doubt a crowded and noisy place to sleep.

Betty grew up milking cows, baling hay, and helping around the house. She could throw a bale of hay with the best of them.

On March 29, 1953, Betty married the late Wilmer Duane Jordan who lived on a neighboring farm and who passed away in 2003. She worked side by side with her husband mixing cement and carrying cement blocks and wood as they built the home they eventually lived in for over fifty years.

Betty often cooked to feed the men working in the fields or on the building site for the company J & C Builders, which was co-owned by her husband. She also ran Jordan's Plumbing and Heating in the basement of their home. She loved to crochet, do crafts, read, sew and go to yard sales.

Betty is survived by three children: Beverly Louise Jordan of West Freedom, PA.; David Duane (Debbie) Jordan of Emlenton, PA; and Chris Allen (Holly) Jordan of Hilliard, OH. David joined his mother as a Clarview resident in 2016, also stricken by Alzheimer's Disease.

She is survived by six grandchildren: Brian (Courtney) Miller of Emlenton, PA; Kelly (Douglas) Barrett of Fort Mill, SC, Courtney (Aaron) Andryka of Miami, FL, Jessica Jordan, Catherine Jordan, and Erin Jordan of Hilliard , OH. There are also nine great-grandchildren: Amber Nolf of Beaver Falls, PA, Brittany Forsythe of Knox, PA, Travis and Trevor Miller of Emlenton, PA, Carter, Jordyn, Jackson, and Kendall Barrett of Fort Mill, SC, Cole Andryka of Miami, FL; and five great-great-granchildren: Avianna Nolf, Ahonesty Oneal, and Ashiya Johnson of Beaver Falls, PA, and Matthew Forsythe and Evan Forsythe of Knox, PA. Her surviving sisters are: Geraldine Warters of Rimersburg, PA, Carolyn Murray, of Pine Hollow Road in Licking Twsp, and Shirley (Tom) Rossey of Corsica, PA.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by one brother: Forrest Dean Murray. Two sisters: Martha Jane Campbell and Ruthann Whitmer. One grandson: William D. Miller, Jr.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes that you remember and reflect on those who have positively impacted your life. Also, donations in Betty's honor may be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center of Pittsburgh. www.adrc.pitt.edu
